Operate Safe Update Course

The Operate Safe Update Course is designed to support companies to meet their obligations under the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992. The Act requires companies to provide "current and specific training" for their staff.

The first Update Course covers five current key Health and Safety issues in the industry, as reported by the Department of Labour, OSH and ACC. It is designed to be delivered by in-house company facilitators. If your company is a registered member of Operate Safe you will automatically receive copies of this course.

The course is mandatory and must be taken by all employees every two years. It will be updated annually to make sure the industry is getting "current and specific" knowledge. The package forms a part of the Operate Safe regime and is designed to be delivered by nominated health & safety supervisor(s) to all staff.

The current course covers five issues as follows:

= Overhead & Underground Services

= Manual Handling

= Noise and Hearing Protection

= Reversing Vehicles and Working in Machine Zones.

= Seatbelt Use.

Each module contains a facilitator's guide, training notes in the form of a PowerPoint show, wall posters and reminder cards.
